Home of the Gods
Welcome to the home of the Gods, rather known as Mount Olympus. We shall tell you about some of the mighty Olympian Gods that rule the skies and seas, and their history and descriptions. Many of the major gods include Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.
Zeus
Zeus was the main king god and was the leader of the Olympians. He was the son of Kronos, the evil ruler of the mighty Titans. Kronos had a wife named Rhea, and she gave birth to the gods: Hera, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Demeter. Kronos was not happy, for he heard a prophecy from an Oracle, saying that one of his sons would take over his command and would rule all seas and skies. Scared and angered by this, Kronos swallowed all of Rhea's babies except for Zeus. Rhea took Zeus away from Kronos and took him to a cave full of caring nymphs. The nymphs cared for him until he was strong enough to rescue his brothers and sisters from Kronos. When he was a powerful full grown god, he went to Rhea to help with killing his father, Kronos. Rhea gave him a drink full of wine and a mustard and told him to give it to Kronos. Kronos drank it and became sick. He barfed out all of his sons and daughters and they fought in a great war for control of the throne to rule the world. Kronos made two evil monsters called Typhon and Echidna and set them out to fight his children. But, his children had kids of their own so now Kronos had more gods to fight. Typhon tore down mountains and threw them at the gods, but Zeus threw a thunderbolt and the mountain fell on Typhon. Echidna escaped, and gave birth to dangerous monsters. Then the gods who are the children of Kronos and Kronos and the titans had a furious battle, but the gods won. Then Zeus condemned the his evil father, Kronos and his followers the titans to the underworld, and the Zeus and the gods could rule in peace. Zues's symbol is the eagle and his weapon is the thunderbolt.
Poseidon
He is ruler of the seas. He used to be married to Medusa because she was the most beautiful maiden. They were in total love but Athena (the daughter of Zeus) made Medusa into a monster with snakes for hair. Medusa kept turning people to stone, so Poseidon broke up with Medusa. Then he fell in love with Demeter. To put him off Demeter asked him to make the most beautiful animal in the world. After several attempts he made the first Horse. The other attempts made other animals. When he made the horse his love for Demeter died. His symbol is the trident and so is his weapon.
Hades
Hades is the god of the underworld and death. He earned this spot by drawing parts of land to rule with Zeus and Poseidon. He walks around the underworld, watching the dead. He judges when a spirit can go to Elysium, the place where good souls go, or to the fields of eternal torture. He has a wife named Persephone (she is Demeters daughter). Persephone got trapped in the Underworld because Hades abducted her, and trapped her in the Underworld. One thing about Hades palace is that there is a garden there with food that looks so good. But if you eat any you will get trapped in the Underworld and you can't get out. That is how Persephone got stuck there.
